Registration Holds

QUICK GUIDE TO REGISTRATION HOLDS
(Student registration is prevented / not allowed to register for classes)

A student can view holds for the semester under the “Holds” tab in their Student Services Center.  A description (reason for hold) and office to communicate is included in the details for this tab.

ADVISOR HOLD - Advisor approval needed before registering. Student must meet with assigned academic advisor to discuss (or follow specific department procedure) removing this hold.  This hold will be placed on student accounts by October 18, 2016 for the Spring 2017 semester.

MEASLES HOLD – This hold indicates the student must provide either written verification of immunizations or get the MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) shots. Contact the Health Center (273-2009, Student Health Center) for additional information or with questions and to have the hold removed.

SF PAST DUE U-BILL - The hold goes on when a student account is past due more than $400 or if the account is more than 91 days past due.  Contact the Office of Business Operations (273-2164, 103 Gilchrist) for additional information or with questions about student account.  This hold is calculated each month after the due date (every month on the 20th).

DEAN OF STUDENTS - VIOLENCE PREVENTION - A student must complete the online training Student Success: Not Anymore program (sexual assault training) and earn a specific score on the final quiz to have the hold removed.  Holds are removed automatically on a daily basis but can be removed immediately by the Health Promotion Coordinator.  Contact Shawna A Haislet, Health Promotion Coordinator, Student Wellness Services (shawna.haislet@uni.edu / (319) 273-6119 / WRC 104) for additional information or with questions about this hold.  This hold will be placed on student accounts beginning on October 1, 2016.

 

DEAN OF STUDENTS - This hold is placed on a student account related to a violation of the Student Conduct Code and required actions that need to be taken by the student.  The student must contact the Dean of Students Office (Gilchrist 118 / (319) 273-2332) for specific information or with questions about this hold.  This hold may be placed on a student account at any time during the semester.


AD UGRAD – INCOMPLETE FILE - Communicate with Office of Admissions (273-2281, Gilchrist 002) to verify what information (such as official ACT scores or a final transcript from previous institution) is needed.  This hold has been placed on student accounts for all students new to UNI for the Fall 2016 semester.

 

AD INTERNATIONAL – MEETING / INCOMPLETE / CONV HOD - Documentation or information is needed from the student by the International Services Office (273-6421, 113 Maucker Union) or the Office of Admissions (273-2281, Gilchrist 002).

 

REGISTRAR HOLD - Call or visit the Registrar’s Office (273-2241, Gilchrist 115) to discuss the issue(s) related to this hold.  This hold may be placed on a student account at any time during the semester.

 

SUSPENSION HOLD - Suspension hold is used to indicate that the student's registration materials have been withheld because the student is on academic suspension.  Call or visit the Registrar’s Office (273-2241, Gilchrist 115) to discuss the process to remove this hold.  This hold is placed on a student account immediately after the student is academic suspended by the university.
